Doctors of Serbia’s Clinical Center, Belgrade, applied new technique of surgery on beating hear, mortality reduced, cheaper surgery

For the first time, the doctors of the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases of Clinical Center of Serbia apply new technique of heart surgery for patients who suffer from angina pectoris.

This technique is developed by Dr. Saša Kačar, surgeon, and Dr. Mirjana Stanić, anesthesiologist, who spent some time in the University center Leven in Belgium. Our doctors are certain that the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases of Clinical Center of Serbia will become the second world center for application of this method.

Revolutionary progress of the surgery on beating heart lies in the fact that the main aorta, as big blood vessel, is not touched at all. Through application of the new technique all arteries on the heart receive blood from single internal artery - mamaria.
