World Hotel Management Congress 2009 in Belgrade

Yesterday (December, 10th, 2008), Serbia received confirmation that International Hotel and Restaurant Association, at their Congress in Mexican city of Monterey, decided to have its coming World Congress in October, 2009, in Belgrade, as it was announced by the State Secretary for tourism, Mr. Goran Petkovic.

At the press conference, Mr. Petkovic pointed out the significance of the fact that Belgrade was nominated for the host unanimously by the Balkan Hotel Association (BAHA), whose member is also our national association, HORES.

He said that he expected arrival of the most important and high responsibility people of the world tourism, hotel and restaurant management, which will be opportunity to make world public attention to potential tourism development in our region.

- Belgrade will be the host to the people who will be deciding about investments, marketing and tourist trends , which is a great opportunity for Serbia - estimated Mr. Petkovic, mentioning that Organization Board has just had its first meeting.

Director of the Congress bureau of Serbia, Mr. Milos Milovanovic, said that on the 47th Congress, which will be held on October, 21st, there will be between 250 - 300 owners and hotel managers.

The Congress represents economic forum, whose topic will be, among other, the influence of global crisis, and also protection of the living environment.
