In the first two months of 2018, a total of 363,310 tourists visited Serbia, an increase by 12% compared to the corresponding period of 2017. In January and February, there were 204,241 local and 159,069 foreign visitors, and according to the data of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the biggest growth was realized when it comes to tourists from China and Israel. As the National Bank of Serbia says, the foreign exchange inflow from tourism in January was 21% higher y-o-y, amounting to EUR 93 million. The last year also saw a growth by 13.4% of tourism income compared to 2016, amounting to EUR 1.18 billion.
This tourism boom is expected to continue in 2018, and seeing how the nautical tourism in Serbia alone has the potential to employ as many as 5,000 people, it is clear that this sector might be one of the key engines for the economic development in the upcoming period.
The rise of tourism and the possibilities of its further development will be the topics of our new Special Edition Newsletter “Travel as Lifestyle: The Art of Living and Leisure”, which will be published on May 8, 2018.
We will present the current situation and the trends in the tourist sector, but also look into how far the realization of the goals envisaged by the Strategy of Development of Tourism of Serbia by 2025 has progressed. In this Special Edition Newsletter, we will also deal with the tourism infrastructure and investments in this field, and we will also present luxury destinations, local attractions and places providing tourists with an opportunity to experience full enjoyment in traveling.
We will inform local and foreign globetrotters about all the possibilities for coming to Serbia and traveling all over the world. We will also present all those essential small things, such as tourist apps, travel insurance, rent-a-car services and producers of tourist accessories.
In our new special edition newsletter, you will also be able to read about tourist operators, services that facilitate the organization of travel, as well as about other services provided by companies which operate in this field.
We will talk to all the relevant people – from state structures (Ministry of Tourism, Chamber of Commerce of Serbia), through the Tourism Organization of Serbia, business associations and local self-governments, to directors of companies operating in the field, experts, consultants and scientific workers.
