City of Belgrade made decision about commencement of realization of project for development of subway - foreign experts to help in selection of best technical solution

The city authorities in Belgrade have made the decision about commencement of realization of the project for development of subway and determination of definite subway routes and all of its technical characteristics within next few months – said Mayor Dragan Đilas.

The Mayor wrote in his statement for Tanjug that, with the help of the embassies of Spain, Germany and Austria, Belgrade would be visited by experts who would assist in selection of the best technical solution whose realization was possible.

- In that way, we are going to reduce the influence of politics on making of such important decision - Đilas pointed out.

According to his words, Belgrade, backed by the Government of Serbia, intends to provide funds for realization of that project and it will try to obtain them in the direct talks with the representatives of the countries that are interested in financing the project under the credit terms that are better than the market ones. In return, their large and world-renowned companies will be the developers of the subway.

- We have already started negotiations with the representatives of China and Russia and we are also open for negotiations with all those who can find some interest in this project. The partners in the project for development of the subway will be selected based on the terms they offer. We have been waiting for 30 years for the subway development to start in Belgrade and this city has no more time to waste - Mayor Đilas explained.
