“’Fiat’ has not given up its operations in Serbia. The workers of the former factory will be asked next week whether they want to work for the Italian company”, says Zoran Mihajlović, the President of the Independent trade union of "Zastava automobili", in the interview for “Blic”.
As Mihajlović explained for "Blic", it was clear after the meeting with Minister Mlađan Dinkić that one of the three new models of small city vehicles would be produced in Kragujevac.
As Dinkic explained, the Polls are producing redesigned "fića" in Fiat’s units in that country, while the Kragujevac’s factory should start producing new model “dobla”. The Italians have no dilemma concerning their business in Kragujevac.
Their experts and managers are here and everybody does their best to make it possible for the brand new model of automobile to be produced at new production lines in "Zastava" in 2010.
The management of "Zastava" denied speculations that "Fiat" would give up the business with “Zastava" because of the global financial crisis. They also mentioned that the stories about future production of "yugo", "101" and other Zastava’s vehicles were unfounded since the technology for production of these vehicles can not be established outside the Kragujec-based factory.
