HBIS considering further investments in Serbia

State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy of Serbia, Dragan Stevanovic, talked to the investment manager of China’s HBIS Group, Guiqing Yang, about the successful operations of the group’s subsidiary HBIS Group Serbia Iron & Steel d.o.o. Beograd, which privatized Zelezara Smederevo, but also about the possibility of new investments in Serbia, on Thursday, March 29.

As the ministry announced, plans for the construction of a Serbian-Chinese friendship park in Smederevo and the potentials for cooperation through investments in the companies from the privatization portfolio were discussed with the Chinese partners.

Stevanovic pointed out that Serbia and China had the tradition of good diplomatic relations, and that that relations in the previous few years had been at an all time high, accompanied by the increasingly better economic cooperation as well.

Our country, as he said, is open to deepening the cooperation with Chinese partners.

Yang pointed out that HBIS Group was a serious partner and that it had already proven it through the investment in Zelezara Smederevo.

– Successful operations in Smederevo are one of the reasons why we’re considering the options for a new form of cooperation – Yang said.
