The President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Miloš Bugarin, and the CEO of the German Organization for Technical Assistance and Aid (GTZ), Uve Štumpf, signed the Agreement on mutual cooperation for improvement of customs operations in Serbia on December 3rd.

The project, which will be carried out by GTZ and financed by the Government of Germany, should improve customs operations by means of introduction of the information system and training for all interested entrepreneurs in Serbia.

Bugarin pointed to importance of that project since Serbia’s transportation sector should be as much prepared for quicker flow of goods and services across the border as possible.

- The project will be of use to local customs agencies and Serbia’s economy sector in general because the economy in Serbia has much more to learn and to practice for admission into EU – said he.

Štumpf pointed out that it was the extensión of the big project of the two countries in the domain of advising related to reforms of the customs rights, which had been implemented in the period 2003-2006.

- The project will help Serbia approach the international market a bit more – said he and added that the aim was that the training about customs regulations should be available to as big number of entrepreneurs in Serbia as possible.
