Plans for bridge at future tourist attraction in Vojvodina – the Jegrička river

Public waterpower engineering company “Vode Vojvodine” made the decision to finance elaboration of preliminary and main project for development of bridge across the Jegrička river, the future tourist attraction of Vojvodina. The projects will be elaborated by stock company ”Hidrobiro” from Novi Sad.

Do you know how beautiful the location of Jegrička is? There is a strict nature reservation “Four Islands in Jegrička’s Fishpond” in the lower course of the Jegricka – the autochthonous river in Bačka. This protected natural good includes four islands and it is exceptionally rich with flora and fauna. Total surface of the reservation exceeds 20ha, and spacious fishpond occupies significant part of the reservation. Flora at these islands includes rare forests with beautiful grass areas, while thick reed grows on their edges.

What makes this reservation especially recognizable is large number of bird species. Namely, the water surface of the Jegrička, especially the area with fishpond, represents a very important transit stop for tens of thousands of birds. Numerous mammals have also found suitable homes in this oasis, especially otter /Lutra lutra/.

There are many suggestions about how this area should be made more accessible for tourists and nature lovers. That is why “Vode Vojvodine” is preparing the infrastructure, while company “Panacomp” has recently presented its project for development of Ethno-eco settlement “Jegrička” in association with the representatives of Municipality of Žabalj.
