The Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) initiated the official talks with the delegation of Serbia about the new arrangement, which should be based on technical instead of financial support, through the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), at the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) today.

The meeting with the IMF Mission, headed by James Roaf, is attended by representatives of the NBS and the Ministry of Finance of Serbia, as well as Sebastian Sosa, Resident Representative of the IMF in Serbia.

IMF representative expect the talks to continue over the upcoming months. On February 22, Serbia successfully completed a three-year arrangement with the IMF, which entailed per-need financial support in the amount of around EUR 1.2 billion, which was not used. The IMF's estimate was that Serbia had successfully carried out the economic program, including fiscal consolidation measures, among them the lowering of pensions and salaries in the public sector.
