Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (PKS) and Faculty of Economy, Finance and Administration (FEFA) to estimate expenses of Serbia’s integration into EU

Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (PKS) and the Faculty of Economy, Finance and Administration (FEFA) signed the contract today (November 17, 2008) on joint design of study that should estimate the expenses of Serbia’s integration into EU.

Study "Effects of Serbia’s integration into EU", which should be completed in nine months, will be designed by the experts of PKS and FEFA, and it is expected the Government of Serbia will also provide assistance.

President of PKS, Miloš Bugarin, said that the costs would be related to standardization and harmonization of legal regulations of Serbia with EU, as well as to investments in economy.

- This study should make it easier for the economy to control costs of the integration into EU, that is, it should enable the economy sector to enter association process in as quality and rational way as possible and to make the costs as small as possible – said Bugarin.

The project coordinator and professor at FEFA, Mihailo Crnobrnja, said that that study had been done by all countries before the admission into EU and that Serbia would design that study in the way Estonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania and Slovakia had already done.

- Serbia is the only country where economy and science represent the initiators of the idea of design of that study, while the initiator in other cases was the state – said Crnobrnja.

According to his words, FEFA and PKS will offer partnership to the state, adding that the aim of the project is quicker, cheaper and quality admission of Serbia into EU.

As he explained, the Project has already been backed by France, while the support from other EU countries is still expected.
