- Over the last week, about twenty factories from Romania and Bulgaria have expressed interest in moving their production to Serbia - SIEPA announced.

The CEO of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), Vesna Perić, said that the investors wanted to move production from those countries to Serbia and she estimated that that was one of the consequences of the global financial crisis.

- These are the companies in automobile industry, manufacturers of car batteries, and there were also some queries related to opening of call centers for IT industry - said she.

- The investors are hesitating when deciding whether to invest in Serbia due to global financial crisis - she pointed out and added that there were no long-term delays and renouncements.

The CEO of SIEPA said that Serbia should use high rate of economic growth in the conditions of global crisis in order to attract foreign investments in 2009.

- Serbia will need between 4 and 5 billion EUR worth of direct foreign investments in 2009 - said Perić, but she could not specify how much investments Serbia was going to attract.

Perić also added that SIEPA would organize presentation of Serbian companies at 25 trade fairs in 2009, most of which are agricultural trade fairs and food exhibitions, as well as that the participation in the film industry trade fair was also in the pipeline.
