German company "Leoni" wants to buy Prokuplje-based factory "Fiaz"

- The representatives of German company "Leoni" are interested in purchase of Prokuplje-based factory of breaks "Fiaz" – said Veselin Koprivica, the Mayor of that municipality.

He said that the representatives of that international company, Nikolaus Gierse and Peter Prohaska, had been staying in Prokuplje and talking with the representatives of local self-government and the head of the office for local economic development, Svetislav Budić, about the investment opportunities in Prokulje’s economy sector.

Company "Leoni" deals with production of cables for automobile industry, it has 53,000 workers and cooperates with the most famous automobile manufacturers BMW and Mercedes.

Factory "Fiaz", once successful and the only manufacturer of parts for automobile brakes in Serbia, has been in bankruptcy for three years. It will soon be offered for sale on the auction for the third time because the previous two auctions were unsuccessful. Koprivica pointed out that "Fiaz" would hire 1,000 workers if the investor from Germany took it over.
