Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic said on Friday, January 26, that an improvement and reduction of costs of the procedures of getting power connections was being worked on.
He also added that he expected Serbia to have a better rating, by the said criterion, on the 2018 Doing Business list of the World Bank, which ranks countries by ease of doing business.
– We have made advancements in this field and I hope that we will improve our position – Antic said at the promotion of the Gray Book of the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED), which contains recommendations for simplifying the bureaucracy in business activities.
As he explained, the number of procedures necessary to get a power connection has already been reduced from five to three, and the plan is to further reduce the number.
– There are also efforts to reduce the period of issuing the power connection permit by 10 to 15 days. We are also getting close to a solution to the problem related to mutual relations of utility enterprises in the process of obtaining the said permit – Antic said.
He pointed out that the costs of obtaining the permit could be lower and more transparent, making it apparent which of them are necessary, and which are needlessly large.
