Decision about commencement of application of Transient trade agreement with EU to be made on October 16


- Government of Serbia will make the decision
tomorrow (October 16, 2008) about the beginning of application of the Transient Trade Agreement with
European Union - Deputy Prime Minister Mlađan Dinkić announced.
Deputy Prime
Minister of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, said that the application of the Transient
trade agreement would start on January 1st, 2009.
- The trade agreement
anticipates reduction of duties on import of products from EU in phases, which
will contribute to greater competition in Serbian market and it will make it
possible for citizens to buy goods from EU at lower prices - said he.
Duty on import of new and used automobiles from EU, as Dinkić explained, will be cut in half on Janary 1st, 2009.
- Serbia has done its part of work as far as approaching to European Union is concerned – it has ratified the Stabilization and Association Agreement and significantly improved cooperation with the Hague Tribunal - the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy pointed out.
