Project of expansion of Duboko landfill waiting for realization – Capacities sufficient for 2018 only

The business program of the PUE Duboko has been adopted by the Managing Board of the company and forwarded to the founders to adopt.

Although the capacities of the regional landfill are not filled, its expansion is already being considered. Concrete works should be carried out in 2018, the director of the PUE Duboko, Nedeljko Milosavljevic, told Radio Pozega.

– Around 380 thousand cubic meters are filled, and the capacity is 580 thousand. Over 230 thousand cubic meters remain, then, but we've always been limited due to the instability and the landslide on the existing part of the landfill. The project being realized should therefore resolve the issue of stability of the landfill and create new conditions and new disposal cells – Milosavljevic said.

He added that, according the the study of the project for the testing of stability and elements subject to control and without additional examinations, there was room for disposal for 12 more months at most.

– We hope that the project will be realized by then, so that there would be no place for worry when it comes to municipal waste disposal at Duboko – Milosavljevic says.

The Duboko landfill is a place where waste from Cacak and Uzice, as well as the municipalities of Arilje, Pozega, Ivanjica, Lucani, Kosjeric, Bajina Basta and Cajetina, is sorted out and disposed of.
