By a majority vote, the members of the Assembly of Vojvodina adopted the decision on the budget of the autonomous province for 2018, projected by the Government of Vojvodina at RSD 68.6 billion, on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

The explanation says that the planned provincial budget for 2018 is higher by close to RSD 5 billion compared to 2017 and by RSD 1.2 billion compared to the budget adopted following the second re-balance in August 2017.

The budget includes larger funds for capital investments, and, prior to the session, it was announced that the Republic was to provide support for “the biggest strategic projects of national importance”.

Subsidies in the amount of RSD 9.2 billion are planned, which is 2.8% higher than in 2017, and the majority of them are meant for agriculture, water management, development of entrepreneurship and employment, construction of a new Radio-Television of Vojvodina building, as well as for provision of information, primarily in the languages of national minorities.

The budget also includes funds meant for the continuation of direct subsidies for the opening of new factories and the creation of new jobs through the Development Agency of Vojvodina.

As part of the planned budget, RSD 1.4 billion more than in 2017 will be provided for capital projects in all 45 local self-governments.

Measures of welfare support to families for support to child-bearing and in vitro fertilization are also planned, and pupils and students will also receive a part of the funds as compensation for transportation costs. Funds for reconstruction and equipping of schools and student homes, as well as health institutions, are also planned.

RSD 2.9 billion is planned for labor costs, and the amount includes the planned salary raise by 10% for employees at cultural institutions and social welfare institutions and by 5% for employees at other beneficiaries of provincial budget funds.
