Regional Development Agency for Raška and Moravica regions opened in Kraljevo


The Head of delegation of European Commission in Serbia, Žozep Ljoveras, and the CEO of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Beatres Mejer, opened the Regional Development Agency for the territory of Raška region and Moravica region on Friday (October 10, 2008). This was announced by the office of the PRO Program (the Program for development of municipalities in southwest Serbia).
The aim of the Regional Development Agency is to prepare and implement development projects that the municipalities included in the PRO program will use to apply for the funds of the national and pre-accession funds of EU.
The Sandžak Economy Development Agency (SEDA) will have the same task and it will be organizationally transformed and included in the realization of PRO program.
In association with the Government of Serbia and EU, Government of Switzerland and UN, realization of the Program for development of municipalities in southwest Serbia started two years ago and it is implemented in the municipalities of Novi Pazar, Sjenica, Tutin, Prijepolje, Priboj, Nova Varoš, Ivanjica and Raška.
So far, 3.5m EUR has been invested in development of these municipalities, while additional 3m EUR will be invested within the second phase that started this year.
