Milos Nenezic new president of Serbian Association of Employers

Milos Nenezic, formerly Vice President of the Serbian Association of Employers, was chosen to be the new president of the association on December 11. Nenezic is to succeed the long-term president Nebojsa Atanackovic.

He was elected at the Association's Assembly, at which annual results were summed up.

Atanackovic says that he is leaving his position in favor of his colleague and assesses the year 2017 as possibly the most successful year for the Association in its 23 years of existence.

– By taking part in a dozen different programs and around 20 work groups, we have managed to highlight our social function. This has resulted in an agreement with trade unions to have their proposition of raising the minimum wage upheld, whereas, on the other hand, the promise made by the minister of finance that this would not increase our expenses has been fulfilled – Atanackovic explains the most important result of the Association's activities this year.

He reminded that, instead of the non-taxable salary components amounting to RSD 11,700, it was accepted for them to be RSD 15,000, which, according to him “will cost the budget, but not employers”.

He says that the Association continues to work on realizing the set projects with its new president and highlights incentives for employment as an important result. Atanackovic, however, says that the announced salary raises in the public sector cannot be expected at private employers, certainly not any time soon.

– Salary and pension raises are the result of better budget results, but this will not have an impact on the real sector. The real sector can only distribute a surplus. There are no conditions for such a raise and we can only hope that the situation will improve in the upcoming years – Atanackovic says.

The Assembly considered the continuation of the Association's involvement in the “Competitiveness and Employment” project, whose end goal is to increase the number of employees through investments in new technological processes and an improvement of working conditions. In the upcoming period, 20 presentations of this project will be held.
