The EU formally reached the decision on the opening of Chapters 6 and 30 in its negotiations with Serbia on December 6. As the presiding country of the EU, Estonia scheduled an intergovernmental conference at which new chapters are to be opened for Monday, December 11, in Brussels. Along with delegations from Serbia and the European Commission, representatives of all EU member-countries will take part in the conference as well.

At a meeting in Brussels, ambassadors of the member-countries adopted a joint negotiation position of the EU, previously agreed on within the work group, thereby practically making the final step in the procedure of opening Chapter 6 (Company Law) and Chapter 30 (External Relations).

With these two chapters, beginning with Monday, Serbia will have opened 12 of a total of 35 chapters, of which two have been closed.

Serbia has also submitted negotiation positions for Chapters 33 (Financial and Budgetary Provisions), 13 (Fisheries) and 9 (Financial Services), but there has still not been a consensus among the member-countries about the opening of these chapters.
