Eight big global, regional and local contractors selected for three-year project for reconstruction of tram network in Belgrade

City of Belgrade is the user of the loan approved by European Investment Bank – EIB, which will be used for financing of the strategic Project for refurbishment of the city infrastructure. The project also includes reconstruction of the tram railways, contact network and the streets where tram is passing. Open competition for forming of the qualification list of companies that will carry out these works has been announced recently.

The companies will carry out works on tram railways (gage) and streets, tram stops, tram and street signaling system, contact network systems, lane and pedestrian tracks, drainage system and other systems of public utility infrastructure.

The project will also include refurbishment of two bridges alongside the tram network, and the works will be carried out between mid-2008 and the end of year 2010.

The qualification list includes the following companies : Strabag AG, Spittal/Drau, Austria; "Balkan-gradnja" Ltd., Belgrade, Serbia; Alpine Bau GmbH, Wals-Salcburg, Austria; Consortium "Intermost", Serbia and "Remont pruga”, Sarajevo, BiH; SŽ-Železniško gradbeno podjetje Ljubljana, Slovenia; PORR Technobau Und Umnjelt AG, Vienna, Austria and Swietelsky Bauesellschaft m.b.H, Austria.
