City Transportation Company "Beograd" to buy 50 trolleybuses and 30 trams in 2009 - procurement of buses powered by natural gas in the pipeline

- City Transportation Company "Beograd" plans to realize series of investments in 2009, one of which is procurement of 50 new trolleybuses and 30 trams, as well as procurement of the first buses powered by natural gas - the Acting Executive Manager of that company, Radoslav Nikolić, announced.
- We will fulfill the obligations for year 2008 by the end of the year, which includes completion of works on reconstruction of tram railways in Vojvode Mišića Boulevard, fulfillment of obligations towards "Ikarbus" concerning the delivery of 100 buses and preparation of vehicles for winter season - says Nikolić.
Preparation works for winter are close to end. So far, 80 out of 100 vehicles have been equipped. City Transportation Company "Beograd" has another month to finish the works and, according to Nikolić's words, everything will be finished on time. Speaking of the plans for the next year, he said that two gas-powered buses could appear in the streets of Belgrade already in January.
- We will reannounce the tender for procurement of new trolleybuses and we also plan to buy 30 new trams, as well as vehicles for transportation of people with special needs - says Nikolić.
