After 10 years of construction, more than USD 650 million invested and criticism of the working conditions, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, got its own Louvre.

The city-museum, located in 55 buildings under an enormous dome, presents a brief overview of the history of the biggest world religions, including Judaism, in the country which doesn't officially recognize Israel.

The permanent exhibition consists of 600 artworks, whereas 300 pieces of art have been borrowed from France.

The museum in Abu Dhabi was opened by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The first universal museum of this kind in the Arab world is a result of an agreement between France and the UAE, which paid over a billion euros for the right to use the name of the famous Parisian museum.

The museum will open for public on Sunday, November 12. The ticket will cost AED 60 (USD 16.8).
