Public debt of Serbia at 64.6% of GDP at the end of September 2017

At the end of August, the public debt amounted to EUR 23.8 billion. In December 2016, the public debt equaled EUR 24.82 billion, that is, 71.9% of the GDP.
At the end of 2015, the public debt also amounted to around EUR 24.82 billion, or around 74.7% of that year's GDP.
The public debt of Serbia amounted to EUR 22.76 billion, 70.4% of the GDP, at the end of 2014, whereas, at the end of 2013, it stood at EUR 20.14 billion, or 59.6% of the GDP.
At the end of 2000, the public debt of Serbia equaled EUR 14.17 billion, or 201.2% of the GDP, and it was at its lowest in 2008, when it amounted to EUR 8.78 billion, or 28.3% of the GDP.
The Law on the Budget System limits the participation of the public debt in the GDP to 45%.
