The Belgrade Investment Days will be held on November 10-11 at the Serbian capital and they should result in concrete investments and projects thanks to a good business environment that has been created in Serbia, said Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Borko Milosavljevic, as reported by Beoinfo.

– So far, over 500 businessmen from the country and abroad have applied. We want regional cooperation, economy and business to be the topics that will bring us together. For this reason, the central panel at the forum will be the panel of the mayors of the region, which will be attended, in addition to the mayor of Belgrade, by the mayors of Tirana, Podgorica, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Sarajevo and Banjaluka. The point is for the capital cities, which make up 30-40% of the GDP of a country according to the statistics, to be the driving engines of a successful cooperation in the future – Milosavljevic explained and added that the Belgrade Investment Days would be opened by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.

Milosavljevic reminded that the forum had been established three years before and that it was not a protocolary, but a working event. This is a place, he said, where numerous institutions will be brought together and where businessmen will contract projects directly in cooperation with city and state representatives, but also get clear information about the activities and the events in a city or a state.

– The Belgrade portfolio is worth EUR 10 billion, which means that investments should enhance the entire business environment and enable a growth of the GDP, improve the tendency of a reduction of the unemployment rate and head towards a healthy economic recovery of both Belgrade and the state of Serbia. Focus has been placed on big infrastructural projects, but also on development of small and medium enterprises, as certain projects are tied to others. For this reason, it is important for big systems to be created, acting as stimulants to small companies, which in turn should be the main suppliers of big companies. This is our policy of linking small and medium enterprises to big infrastructural and development projects on the one hand and to big companies arriving from the side on the other – Milosavljevic emphasized.
