VLM Airlines postpones establishment of air route between Maribor and Belgrade

Although it was announced that VLM Airlines would establish a direct air route between Maribor and Belgrade on October 30, this will not happen in the next few months, Aviatica learns.

VLM Airlines never announced such flights, and the information about their plans leaked before the final decision was made. Allegedly, the flights were first planned for early October, then for late October, but, according to unofficial information, everything has been postponed by several months due to a lack of planes for this route.

The company owns three Fokker 50 planes which are supposed to service the regular traffic from the company's bases in Antwerp and Maribor. One aircraft will be fully engaged on the recently announced route between Antwerp and the London City Airport. VLM Airlines will take this line over from the CityJet airline on October 30, and the said company will stop flying to London on April 27. The flights will be scheduled up to three times a day, with one aircraft constantly engaged on the route, whereas the other two are already carrying out ad hoc charter flights primarily in Western Europe.

VLM Airlines is an airline with Slovenian operating authorization, registered in Maribor, but the owner of this company is the Dutch SHS Aviation through its Belgian office in Antwerp. They use turboprop-powered Fokker 50 aircraft with 50 passenger seats on their routes.

In addition to the Antwerp-London route, the only one officially announced so far, the company is expected to announce new regular routes in the upcoming period, one of which might be the Maribor-Belgrade route. However, the date of the establishment of this route is not yet known.
