Preparations
for opening of new coal pit “Tamnava – Veliki Crljeni“ have commenced in the
Kolubara mines. For that purpose, dredge “rodent“ of 1,300 tons has been moved
from one to the other bank of the Kolubara river for the first time.
The dredge will be digging up to 2,000 cubic meters of barren land per hour on the new pit and, thus, provide additional quantities of fossil fuel for both households and steam power plants in Lazarevac and Obrenovac.
The opening of strip mine Veliki Crljeni, in which 95m EUR will be invested, has started recently with the relocation of 4.6 kilometers of the Kolubara’s riverbed.
That pit will be a substitute for strip mine "Tamnava - Istočno polje", which is nearly completely exploited.Kolubara's mines are the largest coal pits in the country and they provide half of all electric energy produced in Serbia.
