Two bids for purchase of Galenika arrive

Two bids were sent for the purchase of the pharmaceutical company Galenika yesterday, within the deadline defined in the tender, Politika learns. One of them is by the Swiss company Amicus, which was previously the only company to publicly declare that they would send a bid.

The commission will check whether potential investors meet the tender requirements on Wednesday. One of the requirements is for the annual turnover of the bidder to be at least EUR 300 million, Politika writes.

If both companies' bids meet the requirements, a public bidding will be organized. As the newspaper reminds, ten potential bidders bought the documentation, whereas four of them, according to the union's findings, took a tour of the factory.

The state requires at least EUR 25 million for Galenika, which would be used to repay the debts towards banks, and the potential auction would begin at one euro, whereas the highest bidder would win, Politika writes. If only one bidder remains, the state will negotiate with it. Parallel to the tender, the program of applying for voluntary leaving is in progress at the factory, so that the number of employees would drop from 1,400 to 700-900, the number of workers the new owner is estimated to need, Politka reports.

The opening of the submitted bids will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at noon.
