(Post of Serbia) The biggest Chinese online store Alibaba expressed great interest in cooperating with the Post of Serbia, who has presented all its capacities, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, said on Thursday, September 28, 2017.
– It is clear that there are considerable potentials for having not just the Balkan countries, but those of the region as well, supplied from this distribution center – she said while visiting the Regional Postal and Logistics Center Belgrade with representatives of the Chinese delegation, who are on a three-day visit to Serbia, the Post of Serbia reported.
Matic said that representatives of the competent ministry would have an opportunity to visit the seat of the Alibaba Group and have detailed discussions about the possibility of cooperation not just in e-commerce, but in online tourism as well, at the Fourth Internet Summit, which will take place on December 3-5 in China.
Acting director of the Post of Serbia, Mira Petrovic, said that she expected the Regional Postal and Logistics Center Belgrade to become a transit center for shipments from China.
– We’ve had the great pleasure and a great honor to welcome the National Development and Reform Commission of China with reputable businessmen, among which is the renowned Alibaba. This is a historical step for all of us, as we are quite ready and willing to become the distribution center for the entire region and a good part of Europe – Petrovic said.
She said that the 177-year-old Post of Serbia needed to move with the times and that the cooperation with the Chinese company would therefore be good not just for the company, but for the entire Serbian economy as well.
Let us remind that State Secretary Matic announced this Wednesday that Chinese companies saw a great interest in positioning themselves in Serbia, primarily in the fields of e-commerce and logistics, and that Alibaba was interested in finding a partner in Serbia for opening a logistics center.
