Turnover of company "Mercator" in first half of year 2008 - 1.3 billion EUR

In the first half of this year, Slovenian trade company "Mercator" realized turnover worth 1.3 billion EUR, which is 14% more than in the same period last year.

At the same time, the net profit of "Mercator" grew by 5%, to 22.3m EUR.

- "Mercator" achieved the best results abroad by increasing turnover by 40% - the President of the company, Ziga Debeljak, announced.

At the same time, the company’s results in Slovenia were worse than in the first half of the year 2007, which is mainly the result of the growth of inflation.

The stockholders of "Mercator" have not voted for any of the four candidates for the supervisory board of the company today (August 27, 2008). The greatest, although insufficient, support (39.3%) was given to Slavko Tomić from Serbian company "Rodić".

The stockholders have also decided to set aside 16.02m EUR from the last year’s profit for dividends, which will bring 4.25 EUR per stock to the owners of the stocks.
