Contract signed on construction of first phase of sanitarian dump in Pirot - 5.4m EUR

Representatives of European Agency for Reconstruction, Town Hall of Pirot and contractor have signed 5.4m EUR worth of contract on August 20th on construction of the first phase of sanitarian dump in that city.

The project includes the works on organization of "body" of the dump and works on construction of accompanying infrastructure.

This regional dump for solid communal waste management will be used by municipalities of Pirot, Babušnica, Bela Palanka and Dimitrovgrad, and it should last for 30 years.

Construction of the dump will be carried out in four phases and its completion will eliminate negative influence on environment and reduce risks to people's health.

- Construction of the dump will contribute to promotion of the whole region as an ecological territory, which will stimulate development of rural tourism on Stara Planina mountain and in the neighboring villages in this area - said Mayor of Pirot, Vladan Vasić, who signed the contract on construction together with the Head of the Belgrade-based operative center of Eureopan Agency for Reconstruction, Daniel Đuglaris.
