Serbian companies at Lagos fair in Nigeria on November 3-12

Serbian companies will be able to take part in the prestigious Lagos International Trade Fair, to be held from November 3 through 12 in Nigeria, it was said at the presentation at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia on September 11.

The Lagos International Trade Fair, the biggest general purpose fair in Nigeria, is especially important considering that Nigeria has 182 million residents and one of the biggest growth rates in the sub-Saharan Africa.

Lagos is one of the biggest financial and economic centers of Africa, featuring developed infrastructure and one of the biggest ports in the African continent.

– Serbian businessmen are very interested in this fair and over 20 companies have confirmed their attendance, all to the end of supporting our businessmen who are supposed to expand their activities to the African market – said the head of the Center for Bilateral Cooperation at the CCIS, Katarina Momcilovic Matic.

It is expected that the fair will be visited by around 500,000 people, and the exhibitors will come from the sectors of agriculture and food, construction, mechanical industry, oil and gas, mining and energy, automotive industry, information technologies, office equipment, security and safety equipment, banking and finance, cosmetics and house cleaning products, furniture and textile industry.

She pointed out that there was room for more Serbian companies from various sectors to take part in the fair and present their products.

– This market is not familiar enough to our companies, although companies like Energoprojekt, Nelt and others already have some experience in this market, which they have shared with other local companies – Momcilovic Matic told Tanjug.

She reminded that the CCIS had had a successful conference “How to Do Business with Sub-Saharan Africa” on April 25, 2017, in Belgrade and that the interest in cooperation between African and Serbian companies had increased.

At the conference, 11 companies-buyers from Africa were provided with an opportunity to have meetings with 40 Serbian companies at the CCIS, and certain agreements and jobs have already been realized, she said and pointed out that the CCIS was working actively on connecting African customers with Serbian companies.

Two mixed chambers of commerce have been founded, the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and South Africa and the Nigerian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The latter is supposed to organize the joint presentation of Serbian companies at the said fair.
