Serbia to get regional centers for countering corruption

Regional centers for countering financial corruption will open this autumn in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kraljevo and Nis, Novosti reports.

The centers will officially start operating on March 1, 2018, when the Law on organization and competence of state institutions in countering organized crime, corruption and terrorism is to come into effect.

The regional centers, which will have separate prosecution and judicial departments, will process cases of abuse of abuse of power, fraud and money laundering for amounts under RSD 200 million.

In the upcoming days, premises for these regional centers will be secured, and the training in financial inspection, economic law, case management and conduct of the proceedings should start in the first half of October, the newspaper reports.
