The project has been estimated at over EUR 100 million, which should be invested by 4B solar, a local company founded in Varna this May. The project will be carried out in three phases and should be completed by the end of 2022.
4B Solar will build a substation for connecting the facility to the local network. By the end of 2018, they will build a 5-MW substation, which should be brought up to the capacity of 65 MW by December 2020 and to 110 MW by the end of 2022.
The local authorities announced that they had issued preliminary permits for the re-purposing of the land on the location where the power plant is to be built.
The media remind that the development of big solar systems was stopped in Bulgaria after the removal of support though feed-in tariffs for new projects in 2013. In 2016, only 154 kW of new PV systems was connected to the network in Bulgaria.
