The Flight Control Agency of Serbia and Montenegro has made the decision to purchase all necessary spare parts and completely rehabilitate its old calibration aircraft YAK-40. The works on the aircraft's life extension have been entrusted to widely acknowledged Russian company "Aviaexport" (www.aviaexport.com).
The three-engine passenger aircraft Yak-40 was designed in the bureau named after Aleksandar Jakovljev, the celebrated designer of hunter aircrafts from the World War II.
Total of 1,011 Yak-40 aircrafts were manufactured in the factory in Saratovo between 1967 and 1978, 125 of which for export. Six aircrafts flew with JRV and PVO symbols. There are now only two of these airplanes - one with passenger seats in the 138th squadron ViPVO, now used for transportation of the government and military officials of Serbia, while the other, which is under reconstruction, is equipped with the calibration devices and is used by the Flight Control Agency.
