Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated on Friday, September 1, 2017, that the decision on whether to increase non-taxable salary components would be announced in early October, once the effects of raising salaries and pensions on the budget and the implementation of new measures for increasing the GDP had been estimated.

– At the moment, we are calculating the fiscal effects of a potential raising of the minimum wage and the raising of salaries and pensions and the most important infrastructural projects planned for 2018 – Brnabic said.

She pointed out that the estimate of the said effects on the budget would show whether it was possible to reduce the taxes, that is, to raise the non-taxable salary components.

She added that the measures for increasing the GDP were ready, but that their effects on total economic reforms were being estimated.

Commenting on the Government's actions related to protecting Agrokor's companies in Serbia, the prime minister said that they were doing everything in their power to keep the companies' operations stable and to protect the suppliers and the entire economy in cooperation with the National Bank of Serbia.

– I believe we have been successful in this. It is important for the capital of the Serbian companies within Agrokor not to be drained from Serbia – Brnabic said.

She announced that another meeting will be held with the members of the NALED, at the initiative of businessmen. The topic of the discussion will be monetary policy, that is, a strong dinar.

– Opinions on a strong dinar are divided. It suits some, while some are against it, depending on whether they're importers or exporters. We will see what the best solution is for Serbia's economic policy to be made stronger – Brnabic said.
