Island of Sveti Marko (St. Mark), the biggest island in SCG, is without tourist for decade and half.
Before the disintegration of SFRJ, that island was a genuine heaven for tourists. Belgrade-based "Putnik" and Club "Mediterane" from Paris used to bring Frenchmen to this island for vacation and that lasted for decades. Then the breakdown of Yugoslavia followed, as well as expiration of the contract between "Putnik" and Club "Mediterane".
Minister of Tourism in the Government of Montenegro, Predrag Nenezić, said that Tivat-based "saint" was one of the greatest resources of Montenegro and it announced revival of that island.
Club "Mediterane" is not interested in this island, but "Putnik", the owner of over 90% of that island, is. Public Company "Morsko dobro" is authorized for use of beaches. Nenezić announced that they were ready for joint project. The first estimates say that about €50m should be invested in construction of tourist capacities on that island.
It is interesting that about 300 goats arrived on that island one year ago. They were brought to the island to "clean" the terrain.
