EAR to donate 3.5m EUR for technological park in Vršac - open competition for contractors to last until end of September

- European Agency for Reconstruction and Development (EAR) will back construction of technology park at 30 ha in industrial zone in Vršac with 3.5m EUR - the Manager of Municipality of Vršac, Eva Knežević, announced today (August 12, 2008).
Knežević said at the press conference that Municipality of Vršac must be the owner of the land where the technology park would be built in order to use the funds provided by EAR, and she added that the negotiations about purchase of the parcels that were not owned by the Municipality were close to end.
- Infrastructural works will start and end during the next building season. Open competition for potential contractors, which will be working on plumbing, gas network, sewerage and lane and pavement network, will be opened prior to the end of September - said Eva Knežević.
She added that the Municipality was obliged to provide necessary level of electrification and telecommunications.
The Manager of Municipality of Vršac said that there was interest in construction of new units, but the names of the interested parties were still kept secret.
- The names will be revealed in 2010, as soon as the conditions are created for construction of business facilities and when the companies are enabled to take the land on 99 years. New units will serve as support to existing industrial capacities in the Municipality - Knežević pointed out.
About 800,000 EUR has been invested in construction of the Technology Park in Vršac.
About 80,000 EUR has been provided from the National Investment Plan for construction of part of gas pipeline, while the Capital INvestments Fund of Vojvodina provided 4m RSD for elaboration of the main project for construction of junctions. The elaboration of both park construction project and feasibility study were financed with 1m RSD.
According to the estimates of the authorized, the TEchnology Park in Vršac will create about 2,000 new jobs in seven years.
