On Saturday (August 26, 2017) Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said at a meeting of prime ministers of the region in Durres that Serbia has officially submitted its candidacy for the seat of the Secretariat of the Transport Community of Southeast Europe in Belgrade.

According to the official website of the Serbian government, the minister outlined that Belgrade is an important traffic hub and has excellent connections with the whole region.

Brnabic added that "it is a moment to establish an agreement on the seat of the Secretariat, with which entire region would demonstrate determination to develop through intensification of cooperation in all areas".

Participants of the meeting discussed Transport Community of South-East Europe, for which the Contract was signed recently in Trieste at the Western Balkans Summit, it was stated.

This agreement has been signed in mid-July this year, and its objectives are to increase investments in transportation infrastructure in Serbia and the region and to create a unique transport market in the region.

The objective of the agreement is integration of region's single transport market into EU common market, as well as to increase road traffic safety level.
