Minister for environmental protection of Serbia, Goran Trivan, has said today that 2.500 companies have not been paying environmental fees regularly which is compulsory for all polluters that release hazardous substances, dangerous and packaging waste which is why he is announcing a systematic solution in this field.

- The Ministry procured a software which will help us defining exact number of companies which have to pay environmental fees and the amount of their debts. Now we can only speculate on them but as much as they are – they are big, Trivan said and outlined that non-paying the fee is unacceptable.

He expects software to start operating late this year or early next year.
