- Spanish scientists have invented "electronic tongue" - the device that can quickly and accurately estimate the age and origin of wine - British Royal Chemical Industry Association announced.
This device, which is held in hand, contains six sensors able to determine different components of the wine, such as sugar, acid and alcohol.
"Tongue" can be "trained" to recognize already existing and to introduce new types of wine and it should contribute to avoidance of long and complicated laboratory tests used to discover false wine.
The inventors of "electronic tongue" are the scientists from the Microelectronics Institute in Barcelona.
