Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabakovic, stated on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, in Belgrade, that the economic cooperation with Slovakia and its support to Serbia were important for the strengthening of Serbia's position in the process of joining the EU.

– There's a readiness to deepen the cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially the economy – Tabakovic said at the meeting with Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia, Jozef Makuch.

They exchanged their experiences with the challenges central banks are facing globally in achieving monetary and economic policy goals, the NBS reported.

Tabakovic introduced Makuch to the most important macroeconomic trends in Serbia, which, as she stated, are characterized by low inflation, favorable fiscal trends, as well as a stable and highly capitalized banking sector.

Makuch presented the most important information regarding the economic situation in Slovakia, and he also expressed support to Serbia's efforts towards joining the EU.
