Contract with company "Fiat" in first half of September

- The contract on joint investment of the state of Serbia and and Italian company "Fiat" in Kragujevac-based "Zastava" could be signed in the first week of September - said the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Nebojša Ćirić, today (August 1, 2008).

Ćirić said at the press conference in the premises of the Government of Serbia that the sides had agreed on some important elements of the contract and he pointed out that the contract would have hundreds of pages and that technical teams were still intensively working on the contract.

According to Ćirić, the contract should be signed in the presence of the high officials of the two countries, so that it is necessary to carry out all preparations and choose the appropriate moment.

According to the unofficial source of agency Beta, it is expected that the contract will be signed in the presence of the President of "Fiat", Sergio Markione, the President of Serbia, Boris Tadić, as well as the Head of Italian diplomacy Franko Fratini or Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi.

Serbian Ministry of Economy announced in May that the contract would be signed by the end of June, but that date was changed several times.
