Spaskovski to remain head of RTB Bor until the arrival of strategic partner?

Although the tender for professional management of RTB Bor expired on July 31, the company will continue to be managed by Blagoje Spaskovski, the current general manager, Blic writes in today's issue (August 7, 2017).

– At the moment, there are many potential strategic partners for a strategic partnership with RTB Bor. It has therefore been decided to halt the tender for a new management and to have Spaskovski continue to run RTB Bor until a strategic partner is selected – the source from the government says for Blic.

Let us remind that the tender for professional management was placed late last year, after which it was extended several times. The last deadline expired on July 31, when it was decided to halt the project, Blic reports.

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic yesterday confirmed that Spaskovski would remain the head of RTB Bor.

– The Government of Serbia is currently negotiating with companies from China, Russia and Canada interested in strategic partnership with RTB Bor. All those companies are now estimating the cost-effectiveness of investing in RTB Bor. The current management is there to provide all the help they need, and the decision about which company is to be the partner of RTB Bor will be reached after a detailed examination – Antic said.

He pointed out that RTB Bor had realized a profit of USD 35 million in 2017 and emphasized that the Republic of Serbia “would prefer for RTB Bor to get a strategic partner or to keep a part of the stake in the future company”.
