Stores and restaurants heading the list of newly founded companies in the first half of 2017

The number of active business entities in the Companies Register increased by 2%, whereas the number of registered entrepreneurs increased by 3.3% compared to the last day of 2016, according to the Business Registers Agency's database on the date of June 30, 2017.

In the first six months of 2017, 4,426 companies were founded, 2.83% more than in the corresponding period of 2016. In the same period, 17,618 enterprises were founded, 3.85% less than in the first six months of 2016, when 4,314 companies and 18,298 enterprises were founded.

A total of 1,358 companies were deleted from the Companies Register in the first six months, 33.26% more than in 2016, whereas 10,488 enterprises were deleted, 0.27% less than in the corresponding period of 2016, when 1,019 companies and 10,517 enterprises were deleted.

Among the newly founded companies, the top 10 activities are: non-specialized wholesale commerce (478), consulting activities regarding business and management (212), restaurants and movable hospitality facilities (166), construction of residential and non-residential buildings (162), road cargo transport (156), computer programming (117), engineering activities and technical consulting (71), trade of automobiles and light motor vehicles (66), preparing and serving drinks (60) and retail in non-specialized stores (56).

Among the newly founded enterprises, the top 10 activities are: restaurants and movable hospitality facilities (1149), computer programming (907), taxi service (854), consulting activities regarding business and management (825), preparing and serving drinks (750), hairdresser's and cosmetics salons (691), road cargo transport (565), retail in non-specialized stores, mostly of food, drinks and tobacco (507), maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (440) and clothes manufacture (370).

Looking by municipalities, the majority of companies were founded in New Belgrade (425), Novi Sad (374), Stari Grad (278), Zvezdara (231), Zemun (219)...

As for enterprises, the majority of them were founded in the municipalities of Novi Sad (1217), New Belgrade (603), Zvezdara (579), Palilula (530), Kragujevac (528)...

Looking by the legal form of the company, 4,324 limited liability companies were founded, 39 branches of foreign legal entities, 34 cooperatives, 17 offices of foreign legal entities, 5 partnership companies, 4 public companies, 2 limited liability partnerships and 1 joint-stock company.
