The new Port of Gazenica is being built in three phases, the first two of which were completed in 2011 and 2014. The construction of the new ferry terminal, characterized as the biggest development project of the City of Zadar and the wider Zadar area, is the final phase. Following its completion, the port will be fully operational, although it was put into operation back in April 2015.
The investment and the cost-effectiveness of investing in Gazenica has been a point of contention in the Croatian public for years. The completion of the construction was previously announced for late 2017 in the media.
The documentation for pre-qualification can be obtained by interested parties each day from August 1, and the final deadline for the submission of documentation is September 15.
As stated in the invitation, the Port Authority of Zadar received a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the amount of EUR 100 million and a loan from KfW in the amount of EUR 120 million for the costs of this project. The total value of the project is EUR 236 million, and the Port Authority of Zadar obliges to fund the remaining amount of EUR 16 million by itself.
