Serbia to get Russian-Serbian industrial park – Cooperation in seed production planned as well

Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia Alexander Chepurin announced the establishment of bilateral industrial cooperation and the creation of a Russian-Serbian industrial park in one of the free business zones in Serbia.

– It's time to establish an industrial cooperation and create a Russian-Serbian industrial park in one of the free business zones in Serbia – Chepurin said in his interview for the Srpska Ekonomija magazine.

As he says, this is “high-tech production, a field in which we are competitive”, and the products might be placed in the markets of Serbia, the Balkans region, the EU, and Turkey.

The Russian diplomat points out that, for Moscow and Belgrade, it is especially important to enhance the trade and the economic cooperation, citing that Russia was third among the foreign trade partners of Serbia in the first five months of 2017, with a 7.2% share.

According to Chepurin, the export of Serbian products to Russia grew by 19.2%, whereas the Serbian import from Russia increased by 14.4%, and the export of Serbia's agricultural products, which increased by 9% last year, “is and will remain for a long time one of the most important segments of our trade”.

– A tendency of growth was recorded in the first half of the current year as well. All in all, in 2017, we expect a considerable increase in the export of Serbia's agricultural products to Russia – he said and added that a promising project in the field of seed production was being considered, providing another venue for a qualitatively new cooperation.
