The Belgrade-based company Iris-Mega took over the company Videotop Skupina in early June and then another Slovenian company, Colby, in mid-July in order to consolidate its position in the Slovenian market.
Miodrag Stakic, general manager of Iris-Mega, says that the acquisition of Colby has shown a “steel determination” of the Serbian company in striving to successfully expand its operations in the Adriatic region.
Adam Harris, executive manager at Iris-Mega Slovenia, added that the acquisitions would revive the Slovenian market, which had become dormant in the previous years.
Colby started distributing video games in 1994 by representing market leaders such as Activision, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. In the past few years, the company has turned to distributing children’s clothing and surfboards.
Director of Colby, Zan Strnad, stated that the agreement entailed setting apart the video game unit from the parent company into a separate legal entity which would continue using the Colby brand.
– I am firmly convinced that the consolidation of the Slovenian market carried out by Iris-Mega would have deep effects in the upcoming years. The market can now look forward to the kind of growth and support it deserves – Strnad said for STA.
