The direction of the Nis Airport, Vladica Djurdjanovic, says that they are prepared for the handling of the route and that the government of Serbia and Russia now only need to approve it. The Ministry of Tourism says that the approval is a mere formality.
Chepurin emphasized the establishment of the route in his conversation with Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic.
– Russian tourists are coming to Serbia increasingly more often. In the first five months of 2017, there were 17% more of them than in the corresponding period of 2016. I hope that the number will further increase once the Nis-Kaluga route is established in September – Chepurin said.
The head of the Nis Airport emphasized that the airport was ready to introduce another route in addition to the 10 existing ones.
– It's obvious that there's interest for flights on the Nis-Kaluga-Nis route from the Russian side and, if the two governments approve the route, there are no obstacles to having it realized after the signing of the agreement. We are ready to handle this route as well – Djurdjanovic said.
Kaluga is located 150 km to the southwest of Moscow.
Let us remind that the route is being established for the third time at the Nis Airport. In 2014 and the winter of 2015-2016, airlines Jamal and Red Wings were transporting passengers on the Nis-Kaluga. In January 2016, Nis was visited by Mayor of Kaluga Anatoly Artamonov and negotiations were held about making the route regular.
