Reconstruction of Pančevo bridge started with preparation of building site - traffic not to be closed by end of year

Reconstruction of the Pančevo bridge - the only bridge in Belgrade that connects Belgrade and south Banat, commenced with the preparation of the building site.

- The first phase of works, which will last until the end of the year, will not disturb the traffic flow on the bridge - said the representative of the Directorate for Building Land and Construction of Belgrade Nenad Bajić for B92.

- The contract was signed with the selected contractor – consortium "Alpine" last week, and the final agreements related to commencement of works should be reached this week. The works will be carried out on the left bank of the Danube. The building site will be placed under the bridge and it will make it possible for the contractor to carry out reconstruction of the main pillars of the Pančevo bridge - says Bajić.

He claims that the works will not have any influence on traffic, at least during the first phase.

Bajić said that the Directorate was preparing documentation for announcement of new tender for the contractor for second phase of works. That phase of works will last for year and half and it will include reconstruction of junctions and access roads.
