Šabac-based dairy to invest 5m EUR in improvement of production by the end of year 2008

- Šabac-based Dairy will invest total of 5m EUR in production expansion in 2008 - said CEO Zoran Matić.
- The owner of the Šabac Dairy is Farmakom MB and 13.5m EUR has been invested in it and the quantity of refined milk has been tripled since 2004 when this concern bought the dairy - said Matić at the press conference.
According to his words, 70,000 liters were refined every year until four years ago, while not that quantity amounts to 220,000 liters.
- Investments in this year includes investments in the new sterilization unit, new line for production of the most significant product of the
Šabac Dairy – feta cheese, purchase of new lactofreezes, cold storage plant and new laboratory - said Matić.
- The Šabac Dairy increased the export during the first six months of this year by 37% against the same period in 2007, to 9.2m EUR - said the CEO and added that the company exported between 35 and 40% of total production, mainly into the CEFTA countries.
He announced possible commencement of export to Russia on the basis of the contracts signed in 2007, but he did not specify when the first products would be delivered and what would be the value of the export.
It is expected that the Dairy will get IFS certificate by the end of the year, which would enable export to the countries of European Union. Only two dairies in Serbia have this certificate. However, Matić pointed out that the most important thing to the Šabac Dairy was the export to Russia.
